# Beaufort Alum Avalee Green Honored as Veteran of Week

Following his basic training at Fort Jackson, Green specialized in food service, with a particular focus on materials handling. He served two years at Fort Hood, Texas, before deploying to Hanover, Germany, where he was assigned to an armored unit. Green returned to Fort Hood to conclude his enlistment, separating from the Army in 1982.

After his military service, Green returned to Beaufort County and embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator. He joined the R.H. Moore Company, Inc., a firm responsible for installing and maintaining water and sewer systems across coastal South Carolina. Although Green resides in Beaufort County, his work with the company primarily takes him to the Charleston area.

Green’s son continues the family’s tradition of military service, currently holding the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) and serving as a loadmaster in the U.S. Army Reserves. The recognition of Green by American Legion Beaufort Post 207 highlights the contributions of local veterans to both the military and the community.
