## Summerville Residents Alerted to Impersonation Scam

The Town of Summerville is issuing a warning to its residents regarding attempts by individuals to impersonate members of the town’s Planning Department. Town officials recently became aware of these impersonation attempts and have reported the offending accounts.

Residents are advised to carefully examine any electronic communications that claim to originate from town employees, especially those messages that request money. Scammers may conduct research using public records, locate legitimate contact information, and employ official-sounding language to build trust and hide their true identities.

Anyone who receives a suspicious message purporting to be from the town is encouraged to contact Summerville officials directly to confirm its legitimacy. Officials also recommend generally ignoring and deleting such suspicious communications.
