Beaufort, S.C. — Battery Creek High dropped out of the Class 2A top 10 in the SC Prep Media Poll released Tuesday, Oct. 13, after a loss, joining Woodruff among teams that fell from the ballot.

Strom Thurmond stayed at No. 1 in Class 2A. Crescent and Chesnee jumped back into the top 10 to fill the openings left by Battery Creek and Woodruff. Battery Creek still drew other votes among teams just outside the ranked 10.

Across Class 5A, Dutch Fork remained No. 1 with 10 first-place votes, three points ahead of Northwestern, which had eight. Dutch Fork is 7-0 and Northwestern is 7-1 after beating then-No. 3 Dorman.

With three weeks left in the regular season, only four teams statewide remain unbeaten, including Strom Thurmond at Class 2A along with Dutch Fork, Daniel and James Island.

Battery Creek High School sits in Beaufort County School District alongside Beaufort High and Whale Branch Early College High School.
