BEAUFORT, S.C. — Beaufort County Animal Services said a litter of six young dogs was discovered this week stuffed in a trash bag along Schein Loop, and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as an active investigation.

The pups are under evaluation at Port Royal Vet. Staff are hoping a nursing mother dog can take them in, and they also welcome helpers who know how to bottle-feed newborns.

Images released by Animal Services show the six black puppies had been left in a dumpster. Deputies and shelter workers want anyone who saw who dumped them to call, and callers may stay anonymous.

Tips go to Beaufort County Animal Services at 843-255-5010 or to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at 843-255-3200.
