Beaufort’s Veteran Spotlight: Patricia Moore
Welcome to the sunny city of Beaufort, where we take pride in honoring our local heroes! This week, we shine the spotlight on a remarkable veteran, Patricia Moore, a dedicated member of the United States Army who proudly served our country back in 1986.
A Journey Begins
At just 57 years old, Patricia’s journey began when she enlisted in the Army right here in Beaufort. After completing her Basic Training at Fort Jackson, she specialized as a personnel records specialist, a crucial role in managing the information of fellow soldiers. Patricia’s military path took her first to Fort Knox, Kentucky, where she honed her skills before embarking on an exciting assignment to Frankfort, Germany. There, she took on the important task of processing records for promotion boards, helping fellow service members achieve their career goals.
Service in Action
Patricia’s military career was far from ordinary. After her time in Germany, she returned to the U.S. and set her sights on Fort Stewart, Georgia. It wasn’t long before the call came to deploy to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm. Serving during this critical time in history not only showcased her bravery but also her commitment to the ideals of freedom and duty. Patricia separated from the military in 1991, but her journey didn’t stop there.
Life After the Army
Following her time in active duty, Patricia transitioned to a civilian role at Fort Lee, Virginia, where she continued to work with military records. She slowly found her way back to the Beaufort area in the late 1990s, where she spent a fulfilling 16 years working with Laurel Bay housing property maintenance. Patricia’s knack for facilities maintenance has now brought her to her current position at MCAS Beaufort, where she continues to support the vital maintenance of facilities in her community.
