The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a 2019 Ford pickup truck was traveling west on U.S. 278 when it struck two westbound vehicles. Following this, the Ford pickup crossed the center line and collided with three vehicles heading east: a 2019 Nissan sedan, a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, and a 2024 Toyota van.

The driver of the 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, died at the scene of the crash. The exact identity of the deceased has not been disclosed pending notification of family members.

Three other individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The injured victims included the driver and a passenger from the Ford pickup truck, as well as the driver of the Nissan sedan.

In total, there were ten occupants in the vehicles involved in the accident. As investigations continue, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is gathering more details regarding the crash, with no further information available at this time.
