Softball Championships – Beaufort Focus

In the latest softball match on May 13, Atlantic Collegiate dominated over Bridges Prep, eliminating them from the playoffs with an 18-1 victory. This decisive win marked a challenging end for Bridges Prep in this year’s postseason play.

Baseball Highlights

On the same day, Beaufort High School (BHS) clinched the District D title with a thrilling 8-7 win against Hartsville. This victory underscores the competitive spirit and skill of the BHS baseball team as they move forward in their championship journey.

Lower State Semifinals Recap

Shifting to baseball playoffs on May 17, Beaufort faced South Florence in the SCHSL 4A Lower State Semifinals. The series began abruptly for Beaufort, falling to South Florence with a score of 2-0. However, the team rallied back to secure a resounding 9-1 victory, tying the series at 1-1. Unfortunately, Beaufort was ultimately defeated in the final game, losing 9-3 and concluding their playoff hopes.

Track & Field Excellence

In track and field, both Beaufort and Whale Branch athletes delivered outstanding performances during the SCHSL championships held on May 16. The Beaufort boys’ team finished 5th overall, earning 42 points, while the girls’ team placed 34th with 2 points.

Beaufort Achievements

Highlighting Beaufort’s achievements, the Boys’ B4x400 relay team secured 1st place with an impressive time of 3:19.48. Additionally, Caleb Stephan claimed 2nd in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 54.13 seconds, alongside Amare Patterson, who also took 2nd in the 200m with a time of 21.59 seconds. The boys’ team saw further triumph with Eric Smart achieving 3rd in both the 110H and 400H events. Amare Patterson continued to shine with a 6th place finish in the 100m with a time of 10.81 seconds. The B4x100 also reached the podium, placing 8th with a time of 42.85 seconds.

Whale Branch Success

Whale Branch’s track and field team performed admirably as well, with the boys finishing 10th (24 points) and the girls placing 4th with 44 points. Jonathan Kelley excelled by winning the 110H in a time of 13.98 seconds. Other notable Whale Branch results included Larmore Pryor taking 2nd in long jump with 4.95m, and Jordan Cowan placing 3rd in both triple jump and 100H events. The girls’ team also made their mark with their G4x400 ensemble finishing in 3rd place.
