Burton, South Carolina – Two Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 14-Year-Old Boy

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended two individuals connected to the tragic shooting death of 14-year-old Jerrieme Jermaine Washington. The incident occurred on January 2024, while Washington was in the safety of his home on Castle Rock Road in Burton, engaged in playing video games.

Washington was shot when an unidentified assailant opened fire from the road, striking him and hitting a vehicle parked in the driveway. Emergency responders pronounced Washington dead at the scene. Thankfully, two other occupants within the home were unharmed during this incident.

Authorities have charged 18-year-old Jeremiah Warren with multiple offenses including:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
  • Aggravated Breach of Peace

Warren was already in custody at the Beaufort County Detention Center due to another murder charge linked to a separate incident involving 17-year-old Arianna Mulligan, who was shot at Magnolia Park Apartments in September 2024.

In addition to Warren, 20-year-old Alex Bush faces charges as an Accessory Before the Fact to a Felony. Another named suspect in the shooting, 20-year-old Nashaun Benjamin, is currently held in federal custody on weapon charges and is expected to face serious charges, including:

  • Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
  • Aggravated Breach of Peace

The investigation into Washington’s murder remains ongoing, as authorities work diligently to uncover more details surrounding the tragic event.
