According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver was operating a 2006 Toyota sedan westbound on U.S. 278 when the vehicle veered off the road to the right and collided with a tree. Unfortunately, the driver did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the driver’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
