Two individuals were standing beside a 2014 Jeep Compass that had become disabled after its trailer detached. The Jeep was unoccupied at the time of the incident. A 2006 Toyota RAV4, which was traveling eastbound along Bluffton Parkway, struck the loose trailer from the disabled vehicle. The force of the impact caused the trailer to collide with the two pedestrians who were standing nearby.

Unfortunately, the second pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP). As of Monday afternoon, the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office had not released the identity of the deceased pedestrian.
