BEAUFORT, S.C. — Hilton Head Island wraps up its regular season on the road Friday night at Beaufort, a 7:30 p.m. region game for a Seahawks team that has already locked up the league title.
The Seahawks are 8-1, unbeaten at 4-0 in Region 6-4A and winners of six straight. They clinched the region crown last week with a 48-7 rout of Colleton County, the program’s first pair of consecutive region titles in 35 years.
Derek Raniszewski threw three touchdown passes in that game, finishing 10 of 14 for 112 yards, and Thaddeus Czarnecki added 78 rushing yards and a score. The special teams chipped in too, with punt-return scores from both Brayden Smith and Jeremiah Walters.
The Seahawks will sit out the opening round of the 4A playoffs with a bye and remain in the hunt for the No. 1 Lower State seed. Hilton Head has scored 309 points and allowed 138 this season, and they are 4-0 away from home.
Beaufort is coming off a 43-29 loss to May River.
