CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets expect to know more Monday about forward Brandon Miller, who hurt his right groin in the second quarter Friday night and sat out the rest of a 119-80 home rout by the Boston Celtics.
Coach Charles Lee said after the game that he noticed Miller begin to limp a couple of plays before the forward asked to come out. Lee said the team would evaluate him through the weekend and have more information Monday, the same night the Cleveland Cavaliers come to Charlotte for a 7 p.m. ET game.
Miller had 8 points on 3-of-10 shooting before leaving, missing all three of his 3-point tries. Tidjane Salaun started the second half in his place. Through nine games, Miller had been averaging 20.6 points while shooting 35.6% from the field.
The injury adds to a rough opening stretch for Charlotte, which fell to 3-7 and has also played without Kon Knueppel for a number of games. Boston led 70-39 at halftime after making 17 of 31 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half.
