Born on February 4, 1959, in Everett, Washington, Bussing was the son of James Lewis Bussing and the late Bernice Van Wormer. Following his retirement from military service, he joined D. Russett Company, where he engaged in metalworking and craftsmanship. Bussing remained actively involved in veteran affairs as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was known for his commitment to helping others in his community, particularly homeless veterans.
He was a regular fixture at Hunter Golf Course, often participating in local tournaments and enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow golfers. His deep sense of community was reflected in his volunteer work, where he made it a priority to provide meals and basic necessities to those in need. A visitation honoring David Bussing will take place at Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 22. Following this, a graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to VFW Post 660 in Savannah or the Adaptive Golf Experience at The Legends of Parris Island.
